Gelson Fernandes' scrappy second-half goal gave Switzerland a shock 1-0 victory over World Cup favourites Spain in their Group H opener in Durban. Despite the Spaniards dominating possession, the Swiss took a surprise lead in the 52nd minute with Fernandes firing past goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

What a performance, they battled, they hung on, and in the end achieved a result no one thought was possible. Well done Switzerland!
Switzerland will now go into the rest of the group stage full of confidence. They'll fancy their chances against Chile and Honduras after seeing off the European Champions.
